About me

Rolando Angel-Alvarado is a musician, music teacher, educational researcher, and International Doctor of Humanities and Social Sciences from the Public University of Navarra (Spain), participating as a visiting doctoral student at the MuTri Doctoral School of Music Education, Jazz and Folk Music of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Finland). In 2016, he was one winner of an Emerging Researcher Bursary Award granted by the European Educational Research Association. He worked as a lecturer at the Universidad de Chile (2013-2015), and currently, he is a professor at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado (Chile). He is also a member of the editorial boards of two journals indexed in the Main Collection from Web of Science: International Journal of Music Education (IJME) and the Revista Internacional de Educación Musical (RIEM). His scientific activities focus on sociomusical identities, music education gaps, and human rights education. He is responsible for a Chilean National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development project (Fondecyt), which is entitled “Characterisation of a problematising and activist music pedagogy: Experiences in Music Teacher Education” (2023-2026; grant number 11230492).
